The Hochgründeck - 1,827 m
Hiking with fantastic view
At 1,827 m, the Hochgründeck is one of the highest forested mountains in Europe and is located in Pongau between Bischofshofen and St. Johann.
The so-called Friedenskirche, a wooden chapel, has stood at the summit since 2004. From there, in good visibility, you have an excellent view of the surrounding mountains of the Radstadt and Schladming Tauern ranges, the Tennengebirge, the Dachstein range and the Hochkönig massif, and towards the Hohen Tauern range.
