Maurachalm in the Grossarltal valley - 1,620 m

Cable car hiking from Alpendorf towards the Grossarltal valley

The Maurachalm can be reached with the funicular from St. Johann-Alpendorf via the Buchauhütte, then via the Gernkogelalm and then towards Sonntagskogel in approx. 1.5 hours.

The Maurachalm is the most northerly mountain pasture hut in the Grossarltal valley that serves food. The hosts, who are dairy farmers, treat their guests to homemade delicacies such as: milk, buttermilk, cheese, bacon, farmer's bread and especially fine Schnapps made from elder and rowanberry, for example.

They also love to sing and make music. There is a play area for children and at the end of September animals wearing decorations are brought down from the high pastures.
